If you are a web developer and planning to start as a freelancer, you should be aware of the challenges you might have to face.

1. Uncertainty: You may not get picked for the projects you want, or face rejections even if you are by far the best candidate.

2. Competition: The number of web developers are increasing day by day. Be ready to face competition. To beat your competitors you need to update yourself regularly with the latest in technology.

3. No work, no pay: Stay on your toes to make yourself available through out the day. You need to respond to queries in a timely manner. A slight delay in the process may result in loosing jobs.

4. Unfortunately, not everyone is a good customer. After days of hard work, you may end-up having a “Not Satisfactory” or “Noway near to my expectations” message. You also risk negative reviews that may potentially undermine years of hard work.

5. Most people tend to get very interested to five-star ratings and positive reviews. Positive reviews are not particularly easy to come by. Unless your rates are cheaper, nobody will jump at the chance to be the first to test and review your services. So, if you are a newcomer you have to emphasize more on reviews than your earnings.
