There are a bunch of leading freelance websites that have invested heavily in their infrastructure. When you start bidding as a newcomer, you are sure to find a number of existing freelancers with hundreds or maybe thousands of reviews. They have kind of monopolized the platform. As a newcomer, it will be really difficult for you to beat them.

Don’t give up. Instead you can rather try the following:

1. Showcase your portfolio and allow visitors to comment on your work. It will be really helpful if you publish a portfolio page and show your website to the potential employers. So let your work speak for you. Never write a lengthy “About yourself”. Nobody is interested in your biography. Employers are only interested in your expertise for the subject matter pertaining to their requirement .

2. Keep your offers attractive by limiting them at a reasonable level. Start working with a lower profit margin. Try to earn at least 5–10 positive reviews or recommendations.

6. Choosing the rare technology stack can prove beneficial. Those are less likely to be contested by others.
